About Calibra

Facebook seeks a proactive and innovative business and technology lawyer to serve as Lead Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) Counsel for its Calibra custodial wallet business. You will be responsible for advising Calibra on meeting regulatory requirements in the countries of the EMEA region, and on the legal risks related to launch of new products and international expansion of those products. In this role, you will work closely with product, policy, operations, finance and partnerships teams, as well as other legal department subgroups. This is a full-time position and is based in Dublin.


  • Advise on existing and new regulatory requirements potentially applicable to custodial wallet applications, including payments regulation, securities and data protection
  • Advise on Product development, internationalization and local marketing of products
  • Provide legal advice to develop a comprehensive approach to Calibra’s relationships with key business partners and the commercial aspects of our products and programs
  • Advise on legal aspects of Operations for an international business
  • Open to travel as and when required

Minimum Qualifications

  • LLB, JD or equivalent degree
  • Strong understanding of blockchain technology, and familiarity with the legal issues arising from cryptocurrency applications
  • 5 years PQE legal experience, including 4+ years of experience working at or for technology companies (either in-house or at a global law firm)
  • Experience advising clients on tight deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Experienced at building relationships and effectively collaborating with business teams and cross-functional teams (such as Finance, Compliance and Policy) to ensure business needs are met with strong internal controls
